Escalatr – Privacy Policy

Effective date: 06 September 2026

Controller: Tim Grobecker, Munich, Germany

Contact: [email protected]

Data we process

Escalatr does not require an account.

We collect aggregate like and dislike counts for question cards, including counts grouped by your device’s region setting. This setting does not indicate your actual location. We do not use GPS or IP-based geolocation. These counts are not linked to an installation identifier.

Separately, we collect a randomly generated app installation identifier, the server-recorded time of recent activity, and whether the app runs in a production or test environment. This helps us count active installations. The identifier is independent of your Apple account.

Downloaded questions, favorites and app preferences are stored locally on your device. Subscriptions are handled by Apple; the app checks your purchase status to enable paid features. We do not receive your payment card details.

If you contact us, we process your email address and message. Hosting providers may also process technical connection data, such as IP addresses, to operate and secure their services.

We do not use advertising identifiers, serve ads, sell personal data or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Purposes and legal bases

We process data to provide app features and subscriptions, understand app usage, improve question quality, maintain security and respond to enquiries.

Where applicable, processing is based on providing the requested service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)), our legitimate interests in operating and improving Escalatr (Art. 6(1)(f)), or legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)).

Service providers and transfers

We use Google Firebase for cloud hosting and database services. Apple processes purchases under its own privacy terms. Information is shared with service providers as necessary to deliver these services.

Where personal data is processed outside the European Economic Area, applicable safeguards may include adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses. Further information is available in Firebase’s privacy information.

Retention

Statistics and installation records currently have no automatic expiry and remain stored until manually deleted. Deleting the app does not automatically delete server-side records.

Local app data remains until removed from the device. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle your enquiry and meet applicable legal requirements.

Your rights

Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Contact us using the email address above. Because installation identifiers are not linked to names or email addresses, we may need additional information to locate a record. Aggregate counts cannot be attributed to you through the installation identifier. More information about your rights is available from the European Data Protection Board.

Changes

We may update this policy when our practices change. The current version and effective date will be published on this page.
